If you are selling your home, you need to make sure it is ready before you put that for sale sign in the yard. If you have not made any home improvements in some time, below are two things to get you started. The expense of these things will be well worth it, as they will increase the value of your home.

Windows

If you have older windows on your home, you need to replace them. Older windows are often drafty, which means cold or warm air escapes out of your home. This can make your energy bills go up as your HVAC unit will have to work harder to keep your home at the right temperature. Old, drafty windows can also affect how comfortable you feel in your home.  

Older windows were made with a single pane of glass. Double pane glass is used in windows today thanks to technology. This gives you an added layer of protection. Having dual pane glass can also reduce noise in your home.

You may be thinking it will be more difficult to replace a broken dual pane glass. If the glass is broken, however, you will not have to replace the entire frame. Curb Appeal

If a house is aesthetically pleasing on the outside, this makes the buyers feel good before they even walk through your door. Make sure the bushes are trimmed so that they are uniform. If you have flower gardens, there should be no weeds in them. If you have dying flowers, remove them or remove dying blooms on flowers.

Put a basket of flowers on the front porch that have a nice fragrance. Some easy to care for fragrant flowers that work well for this purpose include the following:

• Dianthus
• Peony flower
• Alyssum
• Cosmos
• Scented geranium

If you have trees in your yard, get them trimmed if they are overgrown. You do not want to have branches too close to the roof of your home. Hire a tree trimming company to do this work for you.

If you do not currently have a pathway leading to your front door, you should install one to give your potential buyers something beautiful and solid to walk on. Stone pathways look nice. If you already have a pathway leading to your home, install one that leads to another area of your home, such as a beautiful flower garden or other structure.
